WHAT IS THE CARAVAN?

The word 'caravan' has Persian origins and, historically, signifies a group travelling together from one destination to another, often on a trade expedition through the deserts. The purpose of the caravan was to ensure better safety and protection of the luxurious goods they were carrying from bandits, as well as to boost their economic wealth as they traded with others on their travels.

The desert represents the path of self-development: a never-ending stretch of land that one travels through with great difficulty under demanding circumstances, trying to reach their destination or at least a place where one can recuperate and re-energise but sometimes distracted from the path by the mirage caused by what the nafs desires or thinks it needs. 

This is why travelling alone in the 'desert' is dangerous without company and essentially a guide, as one is more prone to being attacked and looted by bandits. Bandits represent the nature of our world; often, people look out to get you, drain all the good you have within you, and stop you from reaching your goal in life.

So your journey of self-development, similarly, requires a caravan, a group of like-minded individuals moving in the same direction to enhance their spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical well-being in a safe space surrounded by those who value who you are and aim to help you grow your self-worth through a collective identity of those seeking God and His Beloved while trading knowledge and positive energy wherever they go.
